v0.9.3 · 14 Oct

Fixed

• Fish log and other menu pages still couldn’t scroll on iPhone. The game no longer blocks swipes inside menus.

v0.9.2 · 14 Oct

New

• Tap the fish slot in your hotbar to open the Fish log (or press L).
• Picking an item shows its name, how many you have and what it’s for.
• Drink a coconut or eat a breadfruit for an energy boost: you walk and run faster for a while.
• Throw stones! Skim them across the sea for up to four skips, or bonk a baraveli into its shell (counts for Kambaa’s errand). Stones that land on sand can be picked up again.

Fixed

• Fish log and What’s new pages couldn’t be scrolled on phones.

v0.9.1 · 14 Oct

New

• Four more conversations each for Dhon Hiyala, Katheeb, Keyolhu, Dhaththaa and Kambaa, about fishing, the undhoali, sailing, garudhiya and the baraveli, some with reply choices.

v0.9 · 14 Oct · Fish of the Maldives

New

• 38 real Maldivian fish from Matheen’s art to catch, from anemonefish and butterflyfish in the lagoon to trevallies, tuna and wahoo in deep water, and rare sailfish, swordfish and blue marlin far out at sea.
• Each fish has its own difficulty: small reef fish are easy, big game fish fight hard.
• Fish log in the menu: every fish you’ve caught, how many, and where to find the ones you haven’t.
• Your catches go into one Fish slot on the hotbar.

v0.8.1 · 14 Oct

New

• An undhoali, the thatched Maldivian swing bed, from Matheen’s art, in the village.

v0.8 · 14 Oct · Fishing

New

• Fishing! A fishing rod is in your first hotbar slot. Pick it, face the water from the beach (or stop the dhoni out at sea), cast with a power bar, wait for a bite, hook it, then keep the fish inside the green bar until the catch meter fills.
• Four fish to catch: reef fish and red snapper near the shore; trevally and tuna out in deep water from the dhoni. Bigger fish fight harder.
• Hotbar now has 10 slots and you can tap or click a slot to hold that item.

v0.7.5 · 14 Oct

New

• New hand-pixelled baraveli (hermit crabs): a coiled turban shell, stalked eyes, antennae, a big purple-red claw and jointed legs that step as they scuttle. They face the way they walk and tuck into their shells when startled.

v0.7.4 · 14 Oct

New

• Effects volume slider in Settings.
• Footsteps, punches and splashes are louder so you can hear them on a phone speaker.

Fixed

• Music volume slider did nothing on iPhone; it now works.

v0.7.3 · 14 Oct

New

• Errands from the villagers: Dhaththaa, Keyolhu, Kambaa and Katheeb each ask for help once you’ve done Dhon Hiyala’s first mission. Look for the yellow “!” over their heads. They use your inventory: coconuts, breadfruit, sticks, stones, and Kambaa’s crab count.
• The sea glistens: sparkles twinkle across the water with slow ripples of light drifting over the deep lagoon.
• The dhoni’s sail is rolled up on the beach and unfurls when you set sail; it rolls up again when you land.

Fixed

• Sound effects stopping after a while. The sound engine now checks itself every couple of seconds and restarts on your next tap if the phone has frozen it.
• RUN button on phones not responding while you held the stick; it now works with a second finger and shows RUN ON.

v0.7.2 · 14 Oct

New

• Inventory is always on screen as a hotbar at the bottom centre, like Stardew Valley. No bag button any more. On a computer, 1 to 8 picks a slot.

v0.7.1 · 14 Oct

New

• Dialogue choices: in some conversations you pick what Maniku says, and people answer differently.
• Two new conversations each for Katheeb, Keyolhu, Dhaththaa, Kambaa and Dhon Hiyala.
• Villagers stroll around their spot and turn to face you when you come close.

Fixed

• Odi logo on the phone title screen sat too high; it is now lower, nearer the middle of the sky.

v0.7 · 14 Oct · Villagers

New

• Four more villagers to talk to: Katheeb (the village chief) by his joali, Keyolhu the fisherman near the beach, Dhaththaa by her house and Kambaa on the south side. Each has four conversations, with three moods.
• Inventory bar for your items.
• The dhoni now looks like pixel art, with chunky pixels and a dark outline.

Fixed

• Sound effects stopping on iPhone (after the app went to the background, or with the silent switch on).

v0.6 · 14 Oct · Sailing

New

• A sailing dhoni: board it on the beach facing the wooded island and sail across the lagoon.
• The wooded island across the lagoon, with palms, breadfruit trees and a secret.
• Two new missions: Tracks across the lagoon and Round the island (a two-minute sailing race).
• Inventory bar: pick up sticks, stones, coconuts and breadfruit.
• Hit palms and breadfruit trees and now and then a coconut or breadfruit drops.
• Baraveli (hermit crabs) scuttle along the beaches and hide in their shells.
• Sounds for footsteps on sand and in the shallows, punches, hits and splashes.

Fixed

• Palm tree shadows were streaky and broken; they are now solid. No more shadows painted on the sea.

v0.5.4 · 14 Oct

Fixed

• Odi logo on the title screen sat too high on iPhones, behind the Rotate and music buttons.

v0.5.3 · 14 Oct

Fixed

• Buttons and text hidden under the iPhone’s status bar and Dynamic Island (especially in Rotate mode). Everything now stays clear of the notch, Dynamic Island and home bar.

v0.5.2 · 14 Oct

Fixed

• Green strip at the bottom of the screen in the installed iPhone app, upright and sideways. The whole game, title and menus now size themselves from the real screen.

New

• Screen size readout at the bottom of Settings, to help track down display problems.

Fixed

• Green strip down one side when playing sideways (Rotate) in the installed iPhone app.

New

• Version number on the title screen and in the menu.
• What’s new now lists bug fixes too.

v0.5 · 14 Oct · Missions

New

• Three missions from Dhon Hiyala, each in a different part of the island: Coconuts for tonight, Check the tide flags, The lost sea glass.
• Mission tracker, markers, floating text and sound effects. Progress is saved.
• What’s new page in the menu.

Fixed

• Green strip on the right of the title screen in some desktop browsers.
• Rotate button showing on tablets.

v0.4 · 14 Oct · Talking

New

• Conversations go both ways: Maniku answers back with 12 expressions.
• Dhon Hiyala: new look, three moods, seven conversations, moved to the open square by the valhu.
• Soft blip sound as words appear (switch off in Settings).

Fixed

• Bits of Maniku’s hair cut off in his portraits.
• Portraits cropped at the top of the head.
• Dialogue box too wide on phones held sideways.

v0.3 · 14 Oct · The island

New

• White coral sand with grass only under trees.
• Waves wash up the beach; cloud shadows drift over the island.
• Houses, walls, breadfruit trees and coconut palms from Matheen’s art; the village is now an island with a beach.

Fixed

• Square patches in the sand.
• Blocky, oversized cloud shadows.
• Grass growing where it shouldn’t.

v0.2 · 14 Oct · Phones

New

• Big, centred menus on phones; Rotate button; installable app with its own icon.

• Old versions of the game sticking around after an update.
